Series 1D : Monroe Greenthal, advertising and publicity files, 1933-1941.

As head of the Advertising and Publicity Department at UA, Greenthal had primary responsibility for the advertising campaigns for each motion picture. This series contains correspondence with publicity agents, advertising agencies, theater owners, production executives, and other United Artists departments. Activities documented include submitting advertising to various newspapers and magazines, arranging media interviews of stars and other noteworthy personalities, setting joint advertising budgets with theaters, providing publicity materials to exhibitors, and overseeing the activities of advance men throughout the country.
